I proved in my Salted Caramel Frappe post that you don’t have to give up your favorite frozen coffee drinks when you start THM. You just need to know how to make them to fit the THM guidelines. And, I discovered, that basic recipe can be tweaked to suit whatever flavor you crave. Craving something dark chocolate and raspberry-ish? I got you covered with this Dark Chocolate Raspberry Mocha… Continue Reading
Did you know that I am a trained Barista? Indeed I am. It’s been years since I’ve worked at a certain famous coffee chain found in airports, supermarkets, and street corners across the globe, but I’m quite thankful for what I learned about coffee while I worked there. Like how much I love dark, roasty coffee. And those yummy, icy caramel frappes which go by a certain trademarked name… Continue Reading
Ever hear the term “Creme Anglaise” [krem an-glaze] thrown around on those Food Network cooking competition shows? You know…”today chef I have prepared for you Durian Profiteroles with Creme Anglaise” …as if a fancy sauce can really mask durian, probably the world’s strangest (and odiferous – it’s banned in many public places in Southeast Asia) fruits. Sounds like one of those difficult, technical things taught in fancy culinary schools, doesn’t… Continue Reading
Have you ever had fresh coconut milk? It is truly divine! And if you’re fortunate to live where they grow, you are probably nodding your head. The closest I’ve been to the tropics is…well, never actually. But I’ve had fresh coconut milk from the coconuts in the grocery store, and that beats canned by a mile. And to make this dreamy, Creamy Coconut, Lemon, and Turmeric Shake you want… Continue Reading
Do you remember those maple nut candies made by Brach’s years ago? They’re called Maple Nut Goodies, and I LOVED them as a kid. That combination of maple and peanut is just so delicious! If you have kicked sugar to the curb, those sweeties are definitely off the menu. But you can still get that nostalgic flavor by making this easy shake.
I can’t be the only one who runs out of ingredients at the worst possible time, right? Like when your baby boy turns eight. And requests chocolate zucchini cake. And you need to make it Trim Healthy Mama style because his behavior is better that way (and you can eat it too…). And you open the bag of Baking Blend to discover you just don’t have enough. And you need… Continue Reading
Are you getting enough gelatin in your diet? You may have heard about the benefits of gelatin in your diet. If not, some of the benefits include healthier, smoother skin, healing of the gut and improved digestion, stronger hair and nails, and it’s great for your joints. Gelatin contains 18 amino acids and collagen, both of which are essential to good health and radiant beauty. It’s also a healthy… Continue Reading
Mister wanted french toast this morning, and I’ll be honest. I didn’t feel like making it. In fact, he specifically asked for coconut flour flatbread french toast, and I had never before concocted such a thing. It sounded amazing, really. It also sounded like a bit more work than what I was feeling up to…being in the throes of a wicked allergy attack lately. I found myself wishing I fed my kids… Continue Reading
When I head to the kitchen, I don’t always know what will happen. Yesterday, this delicious Vanilla Cake in a Mug recipe happened. I love it when something delicious…and easy…happens! It was so tasty I had it for my S breakfast this morning. In case you’re wondering, an “S” breakfast is one with lots of good, healthy fats and very few carbs. I’ve been a very happy and successful Trim… Continue Reading
Sunday I whipped up a recipe I called Coconut Berry Cloud. Yesterday after supper I made something I’m calling Decadent Coconut Berry Bliss. It would probably be considered a “Heavy S” because of the full fat coconut milk, so don’t eat this after a big S meal of Cheeseburger Pie (pg 326), salad with Easy Balsamic Vinaigrette and some Garlic Biscuits in a Mug.
