We don’t do Christmas. And no, we’re not atheists. We took a serious look at the traditions in our Christian faith and didn’t like where some of them started. Particularly Christmas and Easter, which have roots in paganism. I’m not going to go into all that in this post, but if you’re curious you can read the post I wrote a while back titled A Clear Picture of Christmas. We also don’t “do”… Continue Reading
Brown County Weekend Getaway
Brown County, Indiana, has long been one of my parents’ favorite places to visit. I never understood why – I mean, they live in the woods. They see leaves all the time.In fact, my dad’s least favorite chore is probably keeping up with the deluge of leaves that fall every autumn. And yet, they like to drive down there to see…the leaves. Blended Family Pictures
We went to a family get-together this weekend, to celebrate my husband’s grandfather’s eighty-seventh birthday. While we were there, boxes of old photographs were brought out and I was in heaven! Even though I wasn’t in the old photos (although I could be, I just didn’t get through all the pictures!), I enjoyed looking through them. The other grandma (on our side of the family) wants to be called Mamaw, so that’s a nice way to never be confused about whom he is talking… Continue Reading
No Longer a Rebel Without a Cause
I’ll do what I want, thank you very much I’ve been a rebel as long as I can remember. In my younger days, rebelling against the status quo, against being “good”, against any kind of authority. And, in particular, against anything having to do with God. Sin was something to be proud of, not avoid. And I didn’t avoid much sin, truth be told. I realized today that God still… Continue Reading
Love, Lies and Internal Tapes
If you truly understood that God loves you, it would transform your life. Every area. You would never be the same again from the moment you accepted that truth. So why do so many people struggle with moving beyond “knowing” that God loves us (because, after all, that’s what the smiley faces tell us) and believing that He does? What stands between reason and faith? thoughts… God’s word is full… Continue Reading
