If you are like me, you have piles. Because organizing doesn’t always come easily for you. Deep down inside, you WANT to have files…neatly color-coded, alphabetized files in fashionable designs housed in cute but functional receptacles for said files. You want the contents to be neatly arranged, so whatever contract, bill, recipe or other item magically appears the instant you look for it. The reality is that files just don’t… Continue Reading
Mister asks me all the time to make him poached eggs. My answer is usually “No, Mister, I’m not making poached eggs this morning.” I stink at making poached eggs, you see, and since I’m not really what you call a “morning person,” starting my day out with an epic failure is not my idea of fun. I don’t need that kind of stress in my life, let me tell… Continue Reading
It’s been a month since my last blog post, I don’t know where the time has gone! The last several weeks have been busy with “getting through the holidays,” fellowship gatherings, and adjusting to life with a black lab puppy. Well ok, that last one is probably where the time has gone. She is pretty high-maintenance… Unlike my chickens.
We don’t do Christmas. And no, we’re not atheists. We took a serious look at the traditions in our Christian faith and didn’t like where some of them started. Particularly Christmas and Easter, which have roots in paganism. I’m not going to go into all that in this post, but if you’re curious you can read the post I wrote a while back titled A Clear Picture of Christmas. We also don’t “do”… Continue Reading
By now, you’ve probably seen or heard about Trim Healthy Mama. Do you see people posting delicious looking meals in your Facebook feed? With a seemingly strange language to describe it…like “I just made this amazing GGMS and CIM for breakfast! I can’t believe I’m eating cake for breakfast and it’s good for me!!” And, even more confounding is that they are losing weight while eating what looks to you… Continue Reading
What is matcha tea? Matcha tea is a green tea that is unique to Japan and comes from the plant Camellia Sinensis. It has been used for hundreds of years in tea ceremonies. Matcha is the only form of tea in which the whole leaf is consumed rather than just brewing in water such as with loose leaf teas. Consuming the whole leaf means you also get more of the… Continue Reading
Have you heard of chana dal? When I first got my Trim Healthy Mama book back in August of 2014, I read about chana dal. I was particularly intrigued by how it is supposed to be a very good carb (yes, there really is such a thing!) for people with blood sugar issues.
Why dye a shirt in mason jar? Our youngest son needed a Harley Davidson orange dress shirt for his oldest brother’s upcoming wedding. I found all kinds of long sleeve shirts, but no luck with short sleeve in his size, even on Amazon, that either did not cost a fortune or would arrive in time for the wedding. What does one do when one needs a specific color shirt and… Continue Reading
For breakfast this morning, I played a game of What’s In The Fridge… You know…the game you play when you didn’t plan ahead and you have no idea what sounds good or what you even have… I rummaged around in there and found some leftover plain, cooked spaghetti squash. I like to cook a spaghetti squash or two to have it on hand for easy sides or meals. Then I threw… Continue Reading
Mister wanted french toast this morning, and I’ll be honest. I didn’t feel like making it. In fact, he specifically asked for coconut flour flatbread french toast, and I had never before concocted such a thing. It sounded amazing, really. It also sounded like a bit more work than what I was feeling up to…being in the throes of a wicked allergy attack lately. I found myself wishing I fed my kids… Continue Reading
