Like I mentioned in my Spicy Sour Cream Sauce post, I’m loving hot and spicy foods these days. Sriracha sauce gets liberally applied to just about anything. So why not make deviled eggs a bit more true to their namesake? Like, make them Sriracha Deviled Eggs and make them hot and spicy! I’ve recently updated this recipe, too and it’s even more amazing.
The older I get the more I’m loving spice in my foods. I mean the kind with heat. The hotter the better! My family thinks I’m getting a little loco in the cabesa but whatever. They don’t eat the spicy stuff so there’s more for me, it’s working out pretty well actually. Like this Spicy Sour Cream Sauce that I made for Taco Night this week…I didn’t really want to… Continue Reading
Cranberries…you either love them or hate them. I grew up loving the jellied cranberry stuff in the can. I still like it, I’ll be honest. But once I tried fresh cranberries…oh the wonders to behold. I love them paired with almonds and a simple stevia-sweetened vinaigrette style of dressing in this Sugar Free Fresh Cranberry Almond Salad. It goes so well with turkey or chicken, and even with spicy Sriracha Egg… Continue Reading
Have you read the ingredients on a bottle of salad dressing lately? Holy cow…since when do you need over 20 ingredients for something as simple as a vinaigrette? Yikes! Especially if some of those ingredients are artificial colorings and preservatives. No thank you. I’ll make it myself, thank you very much.
I got in trouble today with my bestie. She just happens to also be my bloggy mentor, so when she “gets on me” about something, I do my best to follow her advice. What did I do? Well, it was more what I wasn’t doing. If you use YouFood (formerly TwoGrand), you know what a great tool it is to keep track of your meals. It’s especially helpful for my Trim Healthy Mama… Continue Reading
I. Miss. Bread. Back in 2012, I went gluten free and I miss bread often. I miss being able to just make a sandwich without paying $5 for a teeny loaf of bread. Or eating a warm slice of homemade bread slathered in buttah. Then I found this recipe for a coconut flour flatbread. It kind of changed my life.
One of the most used items in my spice cabinet is this Creole seasoning blend. I put it on everything! Of course, I have to take it easy if I’m serving to my family. They don’t like spicy as much as I do. But when it’s just for me, I get pretty liberal with it. I put it on all the things. If you need inspiration, keep reading…
Yesterday, I saw this post in the Trim Healthy Mama group for a “detoxing” Egg Nog drink. Boy did that sound good! I looked at the recipe but didn’t have all the ingredients. But I want the Nog. And I want the Nog right now. So, I did what I always do in such situations. I threw some stuff together until it tasted like I wanted it to. So, without… Continue Reading
If you have been following the blog lately, you may have noticed my love affair with spaghetti squash. Ever since I realized that this low carb wonder is a perfect replacement for potatoes, I’ve been dreaming of ways to eat it. My post on How to Make Squashbrowns has turned out to be very popular, and this recipe for Turkey Hash with Spaghetti Squash is a spin-off from that. Turkey hash… Continue Reading
To say the humble spaghetti squash has got me all excited is an understatement. One bite of this fabulous, low carb squash and I began to envision all kinds of ways to use it. Ways to replace your former high carb favorite foods (like pasta and potatoes) so you can still enjoy comfort foods without the glycemic payload delivered by pasta and potatoes. This Mock Baked Spaghetti is a comfort food you’re sure… Continue Reading
