The older I get the more I’m loving spice in my foods. I mean the kind with heat. The hotter the better! My family thinks I’m getting a little loco in the cabesa but whatever. They don’t eat the spicy stuff so there’s more for me, it’s working out pretty well actually. Like this Spicy Sour Cream Sauce that I made for Taco Night this week…I didn’t really want to… Continue Reading
Have you read the ingredients on a bottle of salad dressing lately? Holy cow…since when do you need over 20 ingredients for something as simple as a vinaigrette? Yikes! Especially if some of those ingredients are artificial colorings and preservatives. No thank you. I’ll make it myself, thank you very much.
I. Miss. Bread. Back in 2012, I went gluten free and I miss bread often. I miss being able to just make a sandwich without paying $5 for a teeny loaf of bread. Or eating a warm slice of homemade bread slathered in buttah. Then I found this recipe for a coconut flour flatbread. It kind of changed my life.
One of the most used items in my spice cabinet is this Creole seasoning blend. I put it on everything! Of course, I have to take it easy if I’m serving to my family. They don’t like spicy as much as I do. But when it’s just for me, I get pretty liberal with it. I put it on all the things. If you need inspiration, keep reading…
To say the humble spaghetti squash has got me all excited is an understatement. One bite of this fabulous, low carb squash and I began to envision all kinds of ways to use it. Ways to replace your former high carb favorite foods (like pasta and potatoes) so you can still enjoy comfort foods without the glycemic payload delivered by pasta and potatoes. This Mock Baked Spaghetti is a comfort food you’re sure… Continue Reading
Raw ACV (apple cider vinegar) is some potent stuff. It’s very good for you, though, but many people can’t stand the flavor and have a hard time incorporating it in their diet. I’ve been experimenting with different ways to make GGMS (Good Girl Moonshine) and last week, I discovered The One. It’s my absolute favorite, and I’m calling it Zingy Raspberry Good Girl Moonshine. Good Girl Moonshine is a popular… Continue Reading

Since I’m going to a family get together today, I thought I’d share this recipe I whipped up for Party Bean Dip. It’s totally THM friendly and super easy…on top of tasting great! Everybody wins, right? Now you can make an on-plan dish for a party or… Continue Reading
Oh sweet mercy, can I tell you how much I love Fall? Probably not, there are not words enough to describe my adoration of this season. The crispness to the air, the goreous, fiery foliage, apples and cider and pumpkins…oh, I can hardly wait until it’s “official”. And just when I thought there just couldn’t be any more pumpkiny goodness out there, I find this little gem in last week’s… Continue Reading
Stevia…people either love it or hate it, it seems. I happen to be a fan of it, so I was thrilled to receive a package of Trim Healthy Mama Pure Stevia to try and review here on Oh Sweet Mercy. It came with a copy of the Trim Healthy Mama book, which I’m also reviewing. There is so much to say about it, I’m having trouble keeping my review… Continue Reading
Have you ever had freshly-made corn tortillas? Or have the corn tortillas in your life been purchased at the grocery store? I’ll admit to falling into the latter category – up until the other day. I’d never liked corn tortillas, so I had no motivation to make homemade corn tortillas. Why would I make something myself that I didn’t like anyway? Because I just didn’t know any better. I have… Continue Reading
