If you’ve ever had Fathead pizza crust, aka Holy Grail pizza crust, you know what a low carb life-changer that stuff is.
I mean seriously. It’s like eating real, carbolicious, gluten-infested pizza and if you’ve had to forgo that slice of heaven for any length of time this “cheese dough” crust will absolutely astonish you.
If you HAVE had it, you know what I mean. And if you thought it couldn’t get any better I’m about to astonish you once again. (more…)

Need a great way to use up leftovers?
Enter the frittata. Super simple. Endlessly forgiving. Can hardly go wrong with it, truly. And when you’re blessed with an abundance miscellaneous leftovers and fresh eggs from your lovely backyard hens, it’s a terrific budget stretcher and egg-user-upper. (more…)
Independence Day usually means BBQs and fireworks here in America.
And celebrating our nation’s hard-earned freedom also means a veritable minefield of off-plan food choices for the Trim Healthy Mama follower. Potato salad, chips, buns for grilled meats as well as sugar-laden desserts can make sticking to our healthy eating plan difficult.
If you’re hosting a party or bringing food to a family cookout, one solution is to make on plan foods that everyone will enjoy. These low-fat BBQ baked beans fit with the Trim Healthy Mama E style meal guidelines without leaving out the flavor everyone else will expect. (more…)
Low carb and corn can never go together, right? WRONG!
A while back, I made In a Jiffy Corn Muffins from Gwen’s Nest and could NOT believe how amazingly delicious they were. And to top it off, those tasty little wonders are FUEL PULL, which means both low fat AND low carb.
Low carb?? How can that possibly be? It’s got CORN in it. We all know corn is starchy and fattening, which is why farmers feed their beef cows corn – to fatten them up before shipping them off to market.
If “you are what you eat” comes to mind…yeah, exactly.
But there’s this little secret about corn that I just recently learned, thanks in part to Gwen’s post…and an episode of Good Eats. (more…)
So there I was again, stricken with Food Apathy.
I needed to eat something, but nothing sounded good. I didn’t feel like making anything, either. How do I keep ending up here, anyway?
You know the drill…need something quick and easy…need to be on plan with Trim Healthy Mama.
Standing there, staring into the fridge and assessing the possible combinations with the available ingredients staring back at me (because we never have actual food in our house, just ingredients…), the proverbial light lit up above my head. (more…)
I have a little clump of delightful onion-y chives growing right outside my bedroom window.
When their dark green shoots begin to emerge from that cold winter blanket of soil, it’s a sign of life returning to the land once again.
We also have hens in the backyard that give us delicious, healthy fresh eggs, hours of entertainment, and sometimes heartache.
There’s nothing better than going outside on a warm spring morning to gather incredibly fresh ingredients for breakfast. I love the feeling the warmth of a freshly-laid egg nestled in my hand and the way dew-covered herbs sparkle in the morning sun. Once the strawberries start growing, it won’t be long and I’ll be able to add fresh, sweet-tart juicy red berries to my plate. (more…)
We had a Super Bowl party at our house this year, but I just came for the food.
Well, ok, time with family was part of it too. But I really don’t see the point or attraction of football. I can think of about nine million other things to do besides watch football. Like eat yummy foods. That’s always way more fun than organized sports for me. If eating was an organized sport, I’d be its Number One Fan. I’d paint my body in team colors and have one of those big foam hands…holding a fork, probably. I would be all “Go Team!” and follow the event like it was the most important thing to ever happen in all of history. So what does this have to do with Low Carb Baked Cheesy Beef and Pepper Dip? It was my contribution to the evening’s smorgasbord of delights. And, I might add, it was a basket…or goal…or touchdown…or whatever it is you yell when your team gets a point. It was good! (more…)
Have you ever been struck by a totally weird thought?
One night for supper, I was eating salmon. Out of nowhere, this crazy thought popped in my head – “Man, this salmon would be good with blueberries.” Salmon with blueberry sauce.
I’m not particularly fond of fish but I’ve really grown to like salmon.
Salmon with blueberry sauce? Fish…with blueberries? Certainly I had lost my mind. But the more I pondered it, the better it sounded. And I wished I had blueberries at that moment because I was making myself crave this strange combination. (more…)
I can’t be the only one who runs out of ingredients at the worst possible time, right?
Like when your baby boy turns eight. And requests chocolate zucchini cake. And you need to make it Trim Healthy Mama style because his behavior is better that way (and you can eat it too…). And you open the bag of Baking Blend to discover you just don’t have enough. And you need that cake pronto. Like, People Will Be Here In A Couple Hours pronto.
You need a rescue!
I found a rescue for the Trimtastic Chocolate Zucchini Cake (on page 296 of the new cookbook) and I’m happy to share it with you. (more…)
A Trim Healthy Mama Cookbook? It’s like Pinterest on your bookshelf!
I’ve seen many people asking “Do I really need the new Trim Healthy Mama cookbook? Is there anything new in it or is it the same recipes that were in the old book?” Need is always relative of course. Can you do the plan without the new cookbook? Sure (but it’s much more fun with it)!
Is there anything new in the cookbook?
Absolutely! The first book didn’t have recipes for GGMS (Good Girl Moon Shine) and several other beverage recipes that are wildly popular among the THM community. There’s also tons of crock pot meals, family and quick skillet recipes and soups, lots of breads (including new amazing recipes), desserts and even snacks and condiments – many of the recipes from the original book are there plus even more new recipes.
One of the best improvements in this Trim Healthy Mama cookbook is (more…)
